Roof walkway matting – Plastex

Roof walkway matting

Our highly specialised Crossgrip roof walkway matting is specifically designed to help keep people safe on high-level walkways, flat roofs and gantries.

Crossgrip delivers superior slip resistance and drainage on high-level walkways – even in adverse weather conditions.

We've spent years perfecting our Crossgrip roof walkway matting with safety at the forefront. Certified slip resistant and extensively tested against wind, fire and UV, Crossgrip has an open-grid, two-layer construction that contours to flat roof membranes.

This winning combination delivers superior drainage and slip resistance, which provides protection for staff and workers navigating these high levels. Crossgrip comes in a convenient rolled format, and is designed to be loose-laid for quick and easy installation – simply roll and go.

Choose from Crossgrip PVC, a vinyl roof mat designed for the majority of types of flat commercial roofs; Crossgrip 20/20, which combines all of Crossgrip PVC’s best features with additional four-way drainage and a 10-year warranty; or Crossgrip TPO, compatible with TPO roof membranes.

Cross-directional top ribs ensure a firm grip underfoot, while the open-grid format delivers excellent drainage. Crossgrip PVC has a diamond-etched surface, Crossgrip TPO has an embossed surface, and Crossgrip 20/20features a deeper cut on the top bars, and modified base bars for 4-way drainage. All Crossgrip systems are certified slip resistant.

Crossgrip sits at a raised height of 14mm (PVC) and 12mm (TPO) to help elevate workers off the roof surface away from any ponding water or slippery surfaces, while the durable, welded construction contours to the roof structure. This effectively protects the roof surface from any potential damage from heavy foot traffic, dropped tools and maintenance equipment.

Designed to be loose laid with no fixing required, Crossgrip can be installed in any weather onto the existing roof covering, even in wet conditions or on surfaces with ponding water. The roof below doesn’t need cleaning or any additional preparation, making installation quick and easy.

Crossgrip is oil, chemical and alkali-resistant and naturally resistant to bacterial growth

*Tests at the University of Hertfordshire, School of Aerospace, Automotive & Design Engineering showed Crossgrip PVC when laid flat on a stable platform remained in position for wind speeds of 94mph (150 km/h) and Crossgrip TPO to wind speeds of 88mph (142 km/h). Tests at PRI Construction Materials Technologies LLC in Florida showed Crossgrip 20/20 when laid flat on a stable platform remained in position for wind speeds of 125mph (200 km/h).

  • Certified slip resistance (Crossgrip PVC: DIN 51130: R10; ASTM 1677: 1.0/0.9; Crossgrip TPO: DIN 51130: R9)
  • Excellent drainage (DIN 51130: V10)
  • Contours to the roof structure and protects the membrane
  • Easy to cut to fit around obstacles
  • Crossgrip PVC is stable in winds up to 60mph (96km/hr); Crossgrip TPO is stable in winds up to 55mph (89km/h)
  • Quick to install, no fixing required

Plastex Crossgrip 20/20: Roof walkway system

Created with Sketch.

“Crossgrip has had a dramatic effect. In the winter time, even I was reluctant to go out onto the roof as the membrane was very slippery. Now we have safe access any time of the year and in all weathers. It’s made a big difference to us and the safety of our maintenance teams. The grip underfoot is very impressive and we feel a lot happier and safer negotiating the rooftop pipes, conduits and obstacles.”
